Join EEWV today and bolster energy efficiency in the Mountain State!

Join our fight! Prevent West Virginians from having to bail out FirstEnergy and its shareholders.

FirstEnergy Corp., the Ohio-based parent company of Mon Power and Potomac Edison, plans to have Mon Power purchase the Pleasants power plant. If successful, this plan will pass the costs of the plant on to Mon Power and Potomac Edison customers in West Virginia.

A similar transfer of ownership of the Harrison power plant has cost West Virginia ratepayers more than $160 million, so far.

LEEP blocked by House in voice vote

Unfortunately, the LEEP Act did not pass its vote in the House Government Organizations committee. The discussion of the bill was based on a faulty understanding of how the bill works, and that discussion killed the bill. The committee may be open to a study resolution during the legislative interim.

Over 1,000 letters were sent to the Capitol about LEEP. Thank you all for your support.

Integrated Resource Planning order issued; utilities to issue plans by January

The West Virginia Legislature passed a bill in 2014 to require electric utilities to do integrated resource planning.  Under H.B. 2803WV electric companies will have to submit electric generation plans to the WV Public Service Commission that include consideration of energy efficiency.  The bill represents an agreement reached between WV electric utilities and EEWV.  The PSC will issued an order on integrated resource planning in March of 2015, requiring the electric utilities to make an IRP and suggesting that the companies consider the finalized rules for the EPA's Clean Power Plan in their planning.
